Colors Marathi presents “Yog Yogeshwar Jai Shankar”. A life story of Saint Shankar Maharaj [1800 – 1947] who was a Perfect Master in the tradition of Nath Siddhas and was undoubtedly one of the greatest Yogi saints of Maharashtra in the modern age. He was an Auliya or Avadhut, a term used for yogis who reached perfection and achieved Siddhis (occult powers). He belonged to the Nath Panth (Sect), though he did not follow its dress code or mannerisms. He was born around 1800 at Mangalwedha in a family named Upasani and took samadhi in Pune after about 150 years on April 28th, 1947. Maharaj was found in a jungle by his childless foster parents, Chimnaji-Parvati, who was instructed in a vision to search for him. In this journey of young Shankar, we see how this boy turns out to be a Yogi, Yogyogeshwar Shankar Maharaj. How he enlightens the lives of many.
