Sindhutai Mazi Mai
Life story of late Sindhutai Sapkal, often referred to as “Maai” (mother of orphans), is awe-inspiring and showcases the strength of the human spirit in the face of immense adversity. Sindhutai Sapkal, born into poverty, faced early marriage and abandonment at 20. At a tender age, she had to quit her education and was married off to a much older man. She started her remarkable journey by adopting and caring for abandoned children and orphans, providing them with the love and nurturing that they needed. Over the years, Sindhutai raised and nurtured more than 1500 orphans. She became a beacon of love, compassion, and hope for others. Her selfless service to humanity did not go unnoticed and she was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri award in recognition of her extraordinary work and contributions to society.
